are anyone else's drives making a high pitched noise that goes away when the drive is working? or when you do something like scroll a document of a website? BTW it is a seagate drive. I had a 80 gig then that failed so seagate sent me a 120 gig then that failed so the bastards sent me another 120 and that is making the strange noise
 
LOL I thought I was the ONLY one..I have a 74g WD raptor and when I scroll websites I hear a very faint buzzing sound coming from the hd. But its not only scroll websites, its scrolling my mp3 list..anything that scrolls I hear it..I know its coming from my 74g raptor because it did not do this before I had it. And I actually had the drive in my hand up to my ear listening to it as I was scrolling and its definately coming from the drive..wtf?
 
I think it could be a slight warpage in the platters that causes the heads to touch the platter at the edges (I think the head goes to the edges of the platter when at rest) however when scrolling occurs or any type of data acssess occurs the head moves to where the data is stored and since the warpage is most severe at the edges the noise dissappears when the head moves elsewhere.

But that is just my theory.
