Harddrive doesn't even power up...

I was running memtest86 on my computer today and during the testing my computer randomly shut down. After this I noticed my Maxtor 80GB PATA didn't even spin up. I'm not a hard drive expert but I think this thing is dead. I tried other computers and it just doesn't get juice from the PSU. Anyone know a way I can fix it?

I'm hoping to find a way to fix it, but if not that is ok as I have 2 80GB Hitachi SATA drives on the way.
 
I am not sure how to fix it but if you need the data you can always go to one of those place that specialize in such things and I'm sure they could pull it off for you.
 
Without schemetics, and surface mount tools, and a good understanding off electronics theres no way ull ever fix it.unless its jsut one of the 4 pins on the power connector.
 
I've tried other power connectors and other computers, no dice :(
 
make sure you try it in another machine.. could be the ide port on the mobo is toast
 
Do you have the IDE cable connected the proper way? You need to have the master/slave connectors on the short end (i.e. going into the devices) while a longer section of the connector should be going onto the mobo. Also the red stripe should facing toward the power connector on the drive. You may even want to swap cables.
 
Tried it in another computer, usually if you leave the IDE cable disconnected it spins up on power up regardless. The harddrive was working fine for 1 year, so unless a computer god came down and reversed the cable and caused it to fry the HD I guess its just that Maxtor sucks, this is my 3rd dead maxtor in 4 years.

Well my dual SATA Hitachi's are in now so time to play:)
