Solved the problem of my monitor turning on. Now the setup is having problem detecting the hard drive. Have it set for master and it is the only drive on the cable. Everything turns on, what could be the problem
 
yea, just look at the top of your HDD and set it to cable select (or remove it in the case of western digital. I mistakenly did the same thing you did, holy god that was one hell of a headache.
 
If so, you need to set enhanced ide in your bios under the ide config section. Assuming XP
