Hard drive problems or other?

Recently I upgraded my Catalyst drivers and everything went along fine for about a week. I was playing the new BF Vietnam mod WWII, and I would get freezes where I would have to shut my comp off and reboot. I thought this was a driver issue so I promptly cleaned my drivers out of the system(windows uninstall ATI + Driver Cleaner+Resitry removal of all the ATI shit). I installed my old drivers(the ones that worked for 2 months) from the ATI website and tried to play my games again. Well, not only do my games freeze, but everytime I try to load things into my system, my comp freezes. Okay, it's reformat time.... I reformated (the long way not the quick format) and tried to reinstall Windows xp. The reinstall would get to a certain point, a little after they ask for the code numbers, and then it would freeze again.I reformated again this time the quick format, and this time windows loaded. After careful installization of my catalysts, I tried to run my machine again. It seemed to work alright, surfing the web etc, but when I tried to download anything it would instantly freeze. I think my hardrive is shot in the ass ,the Window installization freezing giving me the first clue. Also I have two other hardrives in the same box and they function fine with no problems whatsoever.
I was wondering if anyone else had similar problems and what they did to remedy them?

I can't even do that now, it's freezing at startup while loading.

The drive mfgr's diagnostic tests usually create a bootable floppy. No OS required, so the fact that yours won't boot won't prevent you from running the tests.

My hardrive was fine. The problem seemed to be in the power going to hardrive. I just put the hdd on a different 12v line and everything was just fucking peachy. Thanks to all those involved.

did you have it on the same line as that xtpe? that can really fuck things up, data corruption and the likes

Yes I did, and I don't know why they suggest you to do that in their manual. I usually don't hook my G-cards on the same line as my hdd, but I fucked up this time and didn't realize I did it.
