I just sent in one of my drives to get it replaced... at startup the drive would be detected wrong 50% of the time (odd HDD name), and my comp would crash randomly when it would load windows. Only the hard drive was to blame.

I just bought a 160g drive to replace it until the rma'd drive comes back... I hook it up and fire up the computer. My secondary drive comes up and does the same thing. Its detected as something weird and makes my computer stall while trying to boot from the cd. WTF is going on to my HDDs? Can anyone give me any info or anything to try? Possibilty of electro-magnetic BS messing with it? What? I just want to use my computer! =(.

1) Jumpers
2) Bios (Check MOBO site to see if there are any know issues)
3) Wires
4) CMOS
5) Hammer

If I had an HDD sitting next to a surge protector would it do anything? How would I protect from this?
