I have an old Maxtor 80GB 7200 RPM ATA/133 hard drive that started making noise yesterday...loud clicking while it is writing. Can I get an estimate on how long I have left
 
I can't give you an estimate, but I would say that taking chances is a very bad idea. If you don't have it backed up, you better get it done as soon as possible. I've seen drives go after months of clicking or hours.
 
I have powerquest datakeeper constantly monitor and backing up to a 250 GB storage drive so I am not worried about data loss....just curious when I should order new hard drive SATA this time lol
 
Ordered WD 80GB SATA 7200 RPM $69 including shipping and a free paperweight lol
 
good choice. I've never had much trouble with WD but i prefer Seagate :)
