All drive in my system are Ultra ATA.
I have a 120 gb WD HDD on the secondary IDE channel set to slave which i only use for storing files has been clicking ONLY when i reboot my computer. This has been going on for 6+ months and i know a clicking HDD is a precursor to a failing HDD. Basically i just ignored it since it never clicks during regular computer usage and so far it hasn't given me any problems.
Any way, a few weeks ago, after formatting my computer and reinstalling windows, my 120 gb WD HDD ( the one on the secondary IDE channel set to slave) did not show up in My Computer. I even checked under Admin Tools->Comp Mngmt->Disk Mngmt and it did not appear there. Basically i didn't bother to figure it out because i had another problem on my hand which i will go into detail right now but may not be related to why my 120 gb HDD isn't showing up.

I have a 300 gb Seagate HDD which I partition into a C drive (25 gb) and E drive (275 gb). Basically i mixed up the drive letters and thought i backed up my 275 gb partition so when it came to formatting my computer, i repartitioned C to 35 gb, thereby screwed put my E drive. When i rebooted i notice my data was missing and i couldn't access E drive. After realized my mistake i was able to run two data recovery programs, Ontrack Easy Recovery and Active Undelete. Right now i'm in teh process of recovering those files.

So going back to the issue at hand, I wanted to get my 120 gb WD HDD up to recover my files onto it since i was running out of space. So today i started tinkering with it and placed my 120 gb HDD as a slave on the primary IDE channel. As my comp was booting, i heard the clicking again and knew that my 120 gb was detected and up and running. However, it did not show up in My Computer once again, yet when i checked under Admin Tools->Comp Mngmt->Disk Mngmt it was there! 120 gb unallocated! I have no idea why it's unallocated, i didn't touch it at all. I ran Active Undelete and my files did show up so i'm still safe because i can recover the data on there.
Basically, what's going on? Should i scrap this HDD? Why was it running well for more than 6 months and only clicks when I reboot?
Also, any good sites for viewing HDD deals? I can only buy UATA drives.
