I first started hearing some random noises when the hard drive would be accessed at bootup, and sometimes when games would load. It was usually a sound you'd hear right before a game was going to lock up. It's a 120 Western Digital SE drive, partioned into 60, 30, 30. I was transfering over about 13 gig worth of files from the 60 partion (c) to a 30, when half way through, it just froze. The second time it froze was half way through an installation, at the next bootup. After those 2 in a row, the computer wouldn't boot, it would freeze trying to get into windows, etc. So, I finally cmosed my computer. I set it at default speeds and tried to boot, didn't work. Then I thought it was my floppy drive so I disabled that, and that just ended up being another clicking problem altogether.
One time I did get lucky enough for it to go into safe mode, and I was browsing through files, but it was going really slow, and every minute I'd hear a clicking noise, it would lag for a moment, and the continued until I rebooted. So I decided, windows must be corrupt, so let me repair it. Big mistake, for now I can't even get into safe mode, and when I try to use the bootup cd to install windows, it just freezes on the Windows Setup blue screen. I also tried switching the hd from Parallel 0 to 1, but no luck.
I'm running out of ideas. I really don't know what my next step is. It's been a while since my last problem. Any help would be fantastic. Thanks for reading this mess, I appreciate it.
