Buy a netbook or an iPad for your coffee table then. If it weren't for the outrageou price tag, I'd probably pick up an iPad for my coffee table just as it would make a great guest comp.

I have had Q3 on my machine since it came out :)
Boatloads of maps/mods (UI Enhanced ftw), just fits on DVD for a nice backup (took a while to get everything working nicely together). Just benched the "FOUR" demo (16xAA, 16xAF, 1680x1050 with FOV of 106). ~690fps on my Q6600/GTX260 system. The default demos ran a lot faster before adding all those mods though iirc.....really quite slow now :D

No one touches mine either, thats why I have a guest computer. Hard to expect people to drag one in when visiting from out of state and gaming is the usually a major part of the visit.

On topic, some very impressive Excel work there. Marketing folks for any company would have loved those ones. Nice pictures too.
 
I actually owned a Voodoo5 in my duron 800 rig. I was quite happy with it.

Those graphs are amazing.

Yeah seriously. I remember begging my parents to get me the Geforce 2... didn't work.

I was stuck with an 8 meg ATi xPert (ATi Rage w/impossible to use and/or find drivers) until 2002. Well in 2002, they sort of got me a Geforce 2, they got the Geforce 4 MX420 with their Dell, when I wanted the Ti4200. :(

$100 extra....
 
That's just how [H]ard, the [H]ard Overclockers Comparison Page was back then. They were so good, they didn't need to know how to use Excel.

I had a Ti4400, I remember being PISSED becuase it couldn't run BF2 as it didn't have the correct shader model (forget what it was) it was a bummer because the card was still plenty powerful enough and the much weaker Radeon 8500 was able to run it becuase it had the proper shader model. Ended up replacing it with a Radeon 9800 Pro, which I still have in perfect working order with an Arctic Cooler on it.

Wow that brings me back. I built a new desktop for the GF2 when it came out, a t-bird 1ghz on the legendary a7v with a whopping 512mb ram. It was pretty boss. :D

I switched to an 8500LE for a while and later got the ti4200, which still functions and is in a friend's office computer. The 8500LE should still function, too, but it's in a static bag. I don't remember what happened to my GF2 GTS or the Ultra I had in there for a while.

Damnit, I just nostalgia'd hard.

Sure have come a long way. From setting the mobo and crap on a foam block to tech stations :)

Its a bit "old" for the GTX480 but it'll work :D

The fan on my Ti4600 just recently crapped out but my GeForce2 GTS (asus 777) still works just fine, but I figure the Ti4600 was twice as fast in my t-bird 1400 computer. The Ti4600 played Doom3 with no real downgrade in mods but was still playable at 800x600, the GF2 I need to run the mod's to get it to run.
 
The nostalgia... I think the GeForce overcoming the 3dfx days were one of the best times for PC gaming!
 
Definitely an exciting aquisition, but a sad time as well. 3dfx was a company pc gamers can never forget. BTW, RIP AZZO!!!!!!!!! :(
 
I was still using a diamond monster fusion with a blorb on it when this came out... I remember thinking people that spent this much on video cards were crazy.

GeForece 2 was a bit before I got into computers, but I miss the older video cards where the difference between high-end and low-end was typically just clock speeds, or if there was a shader difference, they were easy to re-enable. I remember my parents buying me a Ti4200 for my birthday back in the day, and overclocking it to just a bit above Ti4600 speeds

lol I remember I had the Asus Geforce 2 that came with the shutter glasses.

ah brings back fond memories. way back even before Geforce 2 technology.
Voodoo 3d add in boards with pass thru for 2d.
Voodoo banshee, Riva TNT 2, Matrox G400 :D

Yah.. last year was really cool with the 48xx and 260 fighting it out in the $150 range. Too bad nvidia hasn't been able to get thier crap together so we can have some actual price competition again.


My memories from the 3DFX/early geforce era were of spending like $300+ on pretty much any card except for the Geforce 2MX. Pretty sure my 12MB Voodoo 2 was round $300 or more.
 
I've got a Voodoo Banshee and a GeForce 3 Ti200 around here somewhere...
