HAF 922 COOLING QUESTION

I have a HAF 922 with a setup of a single Front 200 mm intake fan, Top 200mm exhaust, Side mounted 200mm intake fan and back panel Corsair H-50 water cooler for my CPU with fan as exhaust. Cools my PC well, but just upgraded to a Radeon 6970 card which puts out a lot more heat than my previous 5850.

My question is if it would be a good idea to remove the expansion slot covers on my back panel to help ventilation under my video card, or if it would actually hurt my cooling setup and not giving me optimal air flow through the case. Also....

If it would be better to keep the expansion covers in tact. Would it then be better to put a exhaust blower under the VC to remove the hot air faster which in turn would keep my PC cooler?

I am a novice in the cooling dept and only know that warm air rises :)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In theory air would from a video card would never hit those expansion slots. It would either go out the extra slot in a 2 slot design or into the back of the card. Even in more open designs that Asus and MSI use the impact would be minimal. Also if your really unlucky and end up with mice at some point, they will like those open slots a lot (its nice and warm in that computer).
 
Good point. My card is a ASUS model and has the fully closed card casing. I kick up the fan speed to around 45-50 percent when im going to be playing a graphic intensive game (Metro 2033, DA II, Crysis 2 etc). When I check my temps directly after gaming the card is up to about 60-65 C, after an hour or so of putting a heavy load on the GPU. Not sure if that is good-acceptable with this new card. My 5850 would just hit a 45-50 under the heaviest load so there is a huge difference. This is why I was guessing my cooling. But I know that the 6970 beasts the 5850.
