H8QGL BIOS Type?

Look at the left rear end to the left of the last PCIe slot.

Is that a BIOS socket?
 
If someone has a GL board, could they read that number on top of that chip?

Goal here is to be able supply a "drop in" overclock chip or have a backup BIOS in case of failure.
 
Dude, I don't want to be an asshole but it was covered in post 2. It is not socketed.
 
You need 16Mbit (or larger) 75 MHz SPI SOI-8W chip.

O.E. is SST25VF016B-75 but you will be fine with any compatible chip.

EDIT: and yes, it is soldered to the board

Thanks. So 8 pin surface mount? What is that ZIF socket to the left of the last PCIe slot?

EDIT - I wouldn't be the first time I replaced a soldered chip with a socket.

Blurry picture I suppose. I'm looking at the gadget right next to JWL01 - Wake On LAN. Sure looks like a socket in the pic.
It has a release strap for a holding spring.
 
That's BMC/IPMI flash. Not of interest.

It's also soldered on production boards.

Since BIOS issues were my #1 problem, I want to have a backup plan in case I torch it.
 
What kind of codes? Port 80 codes? Beep codes?
 
My Tyan shows the POST/Error Hex codes on a LED display as does my SR-2. I'd like something similar for the GL if it is available.
