I know there was another topic, but it is old, and I don't want to bump it. I think that a podcast for [H] would be a great idea. You guys do a great job of covering everything that goes on in the tech world to the point that it becomes a lot of reading. A weekly or bi-weekly summary of the most important events in podcast form would be excellent! Also, you could release "extra" editions whenever a major product (i.e. G80) was reviewed.

Yeah, I wish we had one too, but it comes down to the putting together the time to do it. In the olden days would could have done the Digg-ish angle and played a couple of drunken kids sitting around talking tech....which is of course was our [H] "business model" for years, but that will not work now.

Well, why don't you start a habit of taping all reviews as to not miss things when typing it all up or to show extent of damage to the packaging of x shipped item or how a card or cooler fits into a card or cpu ... etc..

After a while it would take no time and you'd have thousands of podcast subscribers ...

i would be fine with just some sexy voiced women, reading the already existing stories. it is just what the tech world needs.

think of the 30 second ads you could put at the beginning of every cast.
think of the money $$$

:D

The [H] Consumer crew is currently putting together the hardware and subject matter infrastructure to do a podcast, probably on a bi-weekly basis. After we've got it all together and it looks like it's something that we can seriously undertake, we'll send it to Kyle for his approval and we'll see what we can do. The worst thing that we can do is half-ass it. We want to make sure that it's not a waste of time for y'all to listen to.

Anyway, just letting you know it's in the works and we hope to be able to work out the kinks.

Would a videocast scare the children? ;)

Podcast would be sweet. I don't own an iPod, but still would be good to listen to it at home or at work while I'm supposed be doing productive things.

As far as I'm concerned, a podcast covering products and tech issues we read about on the front page and elsewhere would be something of a "waste of time". It may suit some well, though it would surely leave others wondering what to do with it, like an ape getting hold of a cell phone (or perhaps a Zune and a copy of Vista - zing!).

What I'd like to see is a format where users can call in at specific times of the day and discuss and debate tech topics with super-celebrities like Kyle, Brent and Mark. These calls would be integrated into the normal informative flow of the typical podcast format.

It's a little tricky, and would probably require some other infrastructure to get callers tuned to the right track (even if that sentence makes no sense), but it may prove to be a worthwhile investment. I for one don't see the viability of a generic tech podcast without some sort of interaction or entertainment value. And unless it's ad-supported, you're really just shooting yourself in the foot.

My twos cents, gents.

Yes, this is something we're looking to do. It won't be "live," but we're strongly considering answering reader questions as part of the cast.

Oh man... Live questions? Those would get abused sooo easily :)

This is a great idea, I... for one... would subscribe for sure.

Maybe like radio shows, there could be someone to receive the calls, and then patch them through to Kyle and the others. I Imagine you could use something like Skype to do this.

I think that pretty much sums it up at this point.
