[H]ardware Cleaning 101

What are some computer supplies that you use to keep your PC nice and clean? I've been wondering if you couldn't use something like Anti-static electronic wipes to clean the backs of PCI and Video cards as they always seem to collect so much dust. You could keep them looking brand new if you can.

Will those work on PCB's or is that just meant for stuff like keyboards and mice?

What do you use to clean your PC and where do you buy it???

well I do it in a very unprofessional way - I clean cards with a dimin (I hope that's the right word..)

i dont know of that word... then again, i could just be stupid... anyway, i use an air compressor. lol. other than that. just water and a soft cloth (like a lense cleaner)

I remember I once took a pressure washer (those things you hook a hose to) and used it for all the inside of my case (while the parts were out, of course), and used it on the fans as well. Man, those things spun like a mother******. It was all sparkly and clean, though. Probably took down the life expectation of the fans some, but it was fast, easy and effective.~

But other tools I use for regular cleaning are a toothbrush, a bigger brush for surfaces where paper towels wouldn't work (circuit boards), and just paper towels.

I use my friend's big-arse air compressor and clean out all of that dust once in a great while. Also, you may want to try buying fan filters to block out dust - for your air-in fans, of course.

Yep that is about all I use. Never use windex on your monitor either. Water and a paper towel/rag.

I filter all my intakes (positive case ventilation too), so I don't have very many dust problems. I use a static wipe to wipe off the floor of my case, and I take everything apart to get a blast of compressed air every few months. My filters absorb most of the junk in the air, so I'm happy.

Well the main reason i'm asking about this stuff is because i want something to clean off my motherboard/video card/pci cards with that wont cause ESD damage. Your not suppost to ever even touch the circuits on the boards with your fingers. Will something like these static wipes be safe to wipe off the PCB's or no?

OMG this is the exact way I always cleaned em when I worked in computer stores!

I'm normaly in and out of the cases to often for large amounts of dust to form up..... I also live with my parents and the house is kept quite clean.

I have an old brush for cleaning the hair out of my dad's old electric shaver, works great in those tight spaces...
