Hello Fellas--

I just wanted some input on an item I've been looking at. So I found this backplate on eBay for my GTX 670 FTW. (Backplates for the older gtx series are as rare as diamonds nowadays I guess:eek:) I was wondering what some opinions are on getting said backplate. Any input would be appreciated.

Here is the link.

I am in no way affiliated with this seller or ebay in case that is an issue or something. I just really want some opinions. Or if someone can point me to a good alternative that would be great too!. Thanks:D

You could always look on frozencpu for a backplate. There backplates can fit on cards with stock coolers with some different screws to gold them down. They are generally made to go with EK blocks. They might also carry the EVGA backplate for that card as I bought one fron them awhile back.

Yeah I was looking at those EK plates at Frozencpu but didn't know if I could use them without the blocks. I'm not planning on water cooling anytime soon and I've never actually taken a stock cooler off a gpu. Can you install those without opening the whole thing?

Uhh kindof. Any backplate will use the same screw holes as your cooler so you will have to remove screws therefore removing the cooler. But of you keep pressure on the cooler and screw the 4 main screws around the die in first you ahould be ok. Although I personally would suggest cleaming the tim and reapplyong new tim. The EK blocks can be used with stock coolers, you just need to fimd screws that match the stock coolers holes and have wide enough heads to hold the backplate on. The stock screws are too small I believe and won't hold the backplate on.
