Can I play games from 2005-2010 on a 1GB GTX 260, at 720p? On Ultra
Games such as:

MW2
Rage
Viva Pinata

Depends on the rest of your setup and what resolution you are playing at.

Yeah you may not be able to run much AA/AF,but it will run full res on most games.

I'm assuming that's the Q6600. MW2 would be flawless but Rage would lag unless you ran at 720p instead. Tried with a GTX260 recently.

Yep. This is (going to be) my secondary system. I am running it a 720p..... I just checked the monitor specs. Updated post.

Since he said "C2D" above, it must be an E6600 or similar.

It will run most UE3 games just fine. Same games mine started to struggle with (AMD 965, Vista 64bit/Win 7 64bit, 4GB/8GB RAM, 1680x1050):

Crysis 2 - (30-40 average, obviously no HD textures or DX 11)

Crysis 1/Warhead - Mostly smooth, though some parts of the game would drop into the 20s or even below.

BF3 - Medium settings are 30-40 frame rates.

Metro 2033 - Ran well in most areas, though dropped into the 20s or lower in certain parts. Obviously, no DX 11.

ArmA 2 - Low-medium settings. Frame rates from 15-50 depending on terrain.

The card is getting a bit dated.
