Hello,
i'm looking for a gpu for my new i7 920 rig.

I've been looking at XFX GTX 260 Black edition, and a EVGA GTX 260, Core 216. Price is almost the same ($405).

So, if i buy the XFX black, which seems to be the fastest GTX 260 card out atm, will i still have high stability or will the 666Mhz clock, make it unstable, for example if the room temperature is high?

It's gonna be the XFX Black, the EVGA Core 216, or the EVGA Core 216 Superclocked. Price differs ± $10. So which one do you recommend?

Thanks

400 bucks is ridiculous for a GTX260 even if it is 216SP. hell I payed $165(after $20 rebate) for my GTX260 192SP.

EDIT: those cards are much than that so where are you getting such high prices from?

Hello, i'm living in Denmark, and anything is more expensive.
A GTX260/192 costs minimum $340 (Inno3D). GTX 280 goes from $510 (Asus). :(
The 9800GTX+ which goes from $220 (EVGA), which i think is the best bang for the $$, but a bit too slow for my new system.

okay I gotcha now. both GTX260 cards are great and since they are basically the same price just flip a coin.

I own a XFX GTX 260 Black Edition card. I purchased it at Newegg.com for $279 but it came with a $30 dollar Mail In Rebate (After rebate: $249). At the moment, you are correct.. This card is the FASTEST GTX 260 you can buy. During testing, this card even performed on par with the GTX 280 (at normal clock speeds). On a few occassions, this card tested a few frames per second faster, than a stock GTX 280! I am running a Q6600 quadcore overclocked to 3.6ghz and my setup absolutely chews through my small list of games that I play (Farcry2, Crysis, COD4). I downloaded Rivatuner and adjusted the fan speed on my GTX 260, up to 65%. Now, my card idles around 41c! After a few hours of gaming, the highest I've ever seen it get is around 53c. I've included a screen shot (I just took this screen shot for the purposes of this thread). Obviously, I HIGHLY recommend this XFX GTX 260 black edition over all others.

Thanks alot!
I'm going with the XFX Black then ;)

One more thing... is a Corsair TX650W enough, or do i need more power?

The Corsair 650w should be perfectly fine. Lemme know when you get it installed and a few benchies have been performed.. I'm just curious to see if it is worth an "upgrade" to the i7 platform from my current DDR2 / socket 775 socket setup. BTW, Congrats!

Just one thing to consider. Are you interested at all in the 55nm GT200? If you are you can hit up BFG or EVGA, depending on if they rebrand it or not. I think there is a chance they may still call it the GTX 260 even if it is 55nm. As a result you may not be able to actually step up to it. So in the end XFX may actually be the better choice, since you can pass the warranty onto someone thus it will retain a higher sale value later on.

why would you need more power? my entire system with a GTX260 pulls well under 300 watts during full load.
