I didn't do a whole lot of searching before asking so be gentle.

Is it normal for a GS800 PSU to make a strange little buzzing noise when starting/ trying to start, and stopping its fan??

It's a little annoying.

Corsair wants me to send it in to them before shipping a replacement and I don't want to bother if it's pretty common.

AFAIK yeah, the GS series has been known to make strange sounds when starting/stopping the fan. Not sure if they all do it, but I've seen people around the net that have complained about it.
