Sick of it!

Im sick of intel amd changingiing there sockets becuas eI just built a comp p4 3.2 ghz and yes I know it will be good for sometime, IM jus thoping they dont change there socket type for awhile becuase I dont want to by a new mobo and processor in the next two years!!!! JUst a processor ;)

don't like it either
read it has a lifetime of only 8 or something CPU changes (installing, removing CPU from socket), so easy to damage those pins on mobo

Well i mean any pieces of hardware always changes to something better.. i stopped caring about that type of stuff.. just overclock your shit and it should last you a bit longer.. i mean do you really need the latest and greatest?

No but I would liek to have the option there .. If you get my drift...

Well the LGA775 socket is only good for about 20 installs according to Intel. Which is more than most people will use. I upgrade CPU's often. My P4C800 Deluxe has seen a 2.0A Pentium 4, A Pentium 4 2.4C, Pentium 4 3.06, and finally a 3.0C Pentium 4.

That's alot of CPU's in a little over a year. Still doesn't come close to 20 installs. But the socket changes suck. The Pentium 4 has had three now. Socket 423 which was really short lived, socket 478 and now LGA775.

Personally I wish it would stop also. But that's not the real reason to change boards. If the socket is all they changed that wouldn't be so bad. It's the fact that now you have to change sockets to get PCI-Express and DDR2. That's the suck part.

I dont think Ill buy or build another comp in 4 years so I want it to last long not be outdated again after I got it in 4 fricken months!

That's the way the PC world works. When I built my comp, witin weeks, the 256 MB Radeon 9800 was released, and teh [H] posted their review of the IS7, a cheaper and faster board than the P4P800 I'd had at the time. Then in the following months, we saw the 9800 XT, the 3.2 and 3.4C (with subsequent price cuts on ALL processors), and eventually the Athlon 64 line.
