Green Screen = Dying Card?

I saw a video card on eBay with the following description:

This video card has a few minor problems, every once in a while the entire
screen turns green and icons as well. Usually a restart fixes it.

It's for a GeXCube 9600 which would be perfect for my kids' computer. Are these symptoms of a dying card or bad drivers?

Usually that type of problem is really a bad monitor or cable. Don't know how it would be bad drivers as they either work or don't.
 
Have you tried using a new monitor/monitor cable?

I know that when I got my new video card from eBay and it was DOA...I got alot of lockups from my computer, it wouldn't even boot into Windows most times.
 
I haven't gotten it yet, the auction is still going. I wanted to find out if it was a video card problem or if it was a problem with his system somewhere. If it wasn't a video card problem, I'd bid on it to get it for my kids.

I had a simular problem where i got white streaks that would go away with a reboot. i switched the card no more probs
 
Had that happen once with another PC, the moniter was going bad. Has the reseller tried the card with another moniter?

God I hate ebay. :rolleyes:
 
Sent him an e-mail with some questions but haven't heard back yet. eBay isn't so bad if you can find the deals. The problem is that there are millions of other users that don't know how to compare prices.
 
Anybody else experience similar problems with their video card? Or know someone who did? Please share. :)
 
I've had the green screen problem awhile ago as well, it was a monitor problem. Another time I had the issue and reseating the card did the trick. Kind of a crap shoot, but it sounds more of a loose connection somewhere. I never had a bad card as far as I know...
