Hi!

I'm new to the HardOCP forum and I was wondering if somebody had any new suggestions on what type of graphics card I should get, my current system: Dell XPS gen 2 (outfitted with a Geforce FX 5200 w/ 128mb).

Also, are there any new Nvidia cards that don't have fans (I hate the wurring noises they make inside of my pcs). Because I would prefer on having a graphics featuring a heat sink rather than the typical fan setup. Thanks!

at least a 9800pro, you can get one for under $200 if you shop around. if you want to spend more money, a 6800gt.

Every card will come with a fan. The 9800 Pro would be a massive upgrade over what you currently have. What are the specs on the rest of your system?

Every card worth having will come with a fan. I have seen a few 9600SE and low end Quadro FX cards that are fanless. If you want a good card, the 9800 pro is selling pretty cheap, and if you have some money to burn the 6800GT is awesome. If you feel like doing some modding, you can get one of those fanless Zalman heatsinks. They are a bit hard to install though. BTW, just to be sure, you do have a AGP slot, right?

6800 Non-Ultra ($289) or 6800GT ($399) are your best bets.

So far none of the 6800 series are available fanless.
