I have two different 7970s.

One is a Powercolor reference 7970

One is an XFX 7970 BE (with reference board and cooler but no bios switch)

GPU-Z shows the Powercolor one pulling about 4x as much VDDC current. It doesn't matter if it is the main card or the slave card.

Temps at idle are also around 9c hotter on the Powercolor card. Again, it doesn't matter which slot the Powercolor card is in.

I thought that it might be a bios issue, so I flashed both to the reference ghz bios.

The same thing still happens however.

Has anybody else noticed this?

I think it may just be a bad sensor or something as the card runs just fine as is. Also, the temps under load are pretty much even between the cards.
