Guys, I know this has been asked before...but...I still have some questions. Heres the deal, I just got a 7800gtx that runs hot as hell on the stock cooler. Im talking it idles @ 54c and loads @ 75c! This thing is thirsty! From what Ive read a lot of folks dont think the DD NV-78 is worth the extra coin to cool the ram. My deal is , i dont have a great deal of airflow in my case ( praetorian w/ 2 80's up front and 1 @ the top). If I do decide to go passive on the ramsinks , what GPU block would you guys recommend? I was looking at the silverprop fusion, and the maze 4.I need something with 1/2" barbs. Any other options? Im using an oldschool apex kit(storm, d5 pump).Thanks in advance guys!
 
I went with the maze4 as I haven't heard much review on the fusion in the states... every review site was in another language, which didn't help me much. But there is a small buzz going on about them.

I would say maze 4 or the fusion is your best bet... and the ramsinks will be fine... hell, Some have told me they don't even use the ramsinks as GDDR3 runs cool anyways.
 
Do they make a maze4 for 7800 series? Or do you have to buy a mounting kit to go with it.
 
If you don't have good airflow in your case it's advisable to get a full cover block. The DD ones aren't bad, but if you want the best performing part have a look at the STASIS NVx1 setup. ;)
 
You will be fine with a GPU only block and some decent ramsinks.

If you really want a full cover block you have a few options.

DD-NV78 http://www.dangerdenstore.com/

EK 7800 block http://www.ekwaterblocks.com/

The EK block is the cheapest, although I am not sure how much the shipping is gonna cost you. The Stasis Thermal is the most expensive. The DD block falls in the middle.

(You would need to contact the guy who runs EK to arrange shipping to the US, I know he has done it before. The block is only around 80$ so it should still be the cheapest after shipping.)
 
If I decide to go maze 4 , do I need to get a certain one for 7800 series? Or does it come with the mounting hardware for it? Thanks for the info guys!
 
It has mounting materials for the 7800 series, though in some stores you have to select it as a additional option.

I recommend you go with the Low Profile Acetal Maze4 in case you want to go SLI some day.
 
a buddy of mine has a DD4 on his, and decent airflow in his case. he achieves good temps, ive seen a stasis in person and i think its low quality stuff, and i wouldnt buy it myself.
