GPU Block.. Maze 4 w/ramsinks or full coverage?

Does anyone have any real world experience going from a maze4 or equiv and then to something like a Tyee, etc? I'd like to cover the voltage regulators and ram.

I have most of my new stuff speced as follows:

Rig: per sig
Lian Li G70
DD TDX for CPU
Swiftech MCR320-QP (may replace with heater core ..)
3 Yate Loon D12SL-12 fans (undervolted)
DDC-1 w/Petra's top
Swiftec Micro res or Alphacool bay mount res
1/2" fittings, 7/16" tubing.

My goal was to firstly have a silet system, then be able to OC.

Eventually, I will upgrade my board and CPU to a C2D.. but no rush.

Also, can anyone recommend a good fan controler (pref digital) that doesnt look all ghetto and that would match well with a black Lian Li case? Need to control 6 120mm fans, maybe a pump?

I'm serious... those full coverage blocks are EXPENSIVE, and don't really do all that much!

The EK blocks are the only one's I'd recommend... if you're going full coverage.

Thats what Petra recommended, but I couldnt find anyone in the US that sells them. I don't mind paying for it, if its worth it.. but if not, obvously I'd go with the OG plan.
 
Yep, definitely not worth it... Sure, you might get an extra 20mhz on the RAM, but that really means nothing :)
 
I have the Vantec Nexus, the one that fits in a 3.5in bay. 3 fans, 2 lights (one control does 2 lights), and around the buttons it glows blue. It was kind of expensive but it's doing a good job, I like being able to turn fans completely off.
 
EK blocks. cheaper than other full coverage blocks so you really dont actually lose when you put on shipping. lets put it this way, i got a pair for my cards. 170 for hte pair, 20 shipping, thats 190 for hte pair.

the DD full coverage blocks, cost 120 EACH, before shipping. and the EK is the best block regardless. i'd pay more for it. but it just so happens to be cheapest.

$83 for a full cover like that is VERY reasonable, considering a maze4 costs $45 and sinks cost $15. It's only $23 more and covers vregs and stuff. Shipping from EU should cost about $10 and should arrive in a week.

yea brav, forgot ot mention that. eddy is switchin his bank info over since like friday, so it should be sorted by tomorrow i would venture to guess.

yes he send the plugs and appropriate tops if you order the xfire setup. also you can decide if you want that vreg cooler, for hte x1900's i woulod say, "why not!" that would be the attachment silver colored with the black heatsinks on top of it in hte pic i showed earlier.
 
One problem I had running the Maze 4 with ramsinks was the clearance under the 1/2 inch barbs, I was barely able to get the tubes between them, and I did have some leak problems due to that.

What temps are you getting under load? When folding, I am at 83C.. at 648/999mhz
 
the downside to full cover blocks is when the time comes to buy a new vid card you are left with a paperweight waterblock.

Not too worried about that. I dont upgrade THAT often, and yes I could just sell it. The question is, will you get noticeably better overall cooling (while looking cooler..)
 
not noticably no. what its more about is guranteed ram cooling even tho it may be debatable. but less fans in your case. more of the ambient video card heat goes straight to your loop.

Look cooler? yes... Actually cooler? no.
 
yeah, your ram me be cooled ever so slightly better than with ramsinks and a fan, but your core will most likely not be cooled as well as with a core only block. Your core however will benefit more than the ram from being watercooled as each ram chip puts out a miniscule amount of heat compared to the core.
 
hey, all i can say is, i got hte EK full cover blocks as i mentioned before and i got GREAT cooling here. looks great, cant say for certain how much better if at all but def not worse than the maze4 and seems to be doing an awesome job.
