I'm thinking this thing is obviously still beta, and I wanted know if anyone else noticed the same thing.
GPU2 beta 11
and win SMP 5.91
Windows 2003 Server R2 x64
If I turn the SMP client on it totally kills my GPU and overall performance.
So I did the logical thing and started playing with config options.
The winsmp priority is set to Idle, and the GPU is set to slightly higher.
If you look in the client.cfg files you see
GPU priority at 96
SMP priority at 0
I have no idea where they came up with these numbers. Must mean something to them.
If you open process explorer (sysinternals), you see that all the cores both the a1 and the a11 are running with a windows priority of 4 (idle). I can change the settings, stop and restart, and the GPU is always running with a priority of 4 (idle).
The CPU lock config option doesn't seem to make a diff either. If I set it to not lock on the CPU, it's still setting affinity to only core 3.
It would be really nice to know of an easy way to force the affinity of the SMP client to cores 0,1,2 and have it be persistent across work units.
I'm going to keep playing with this, but if anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them.
