Hi,
I have a few 3TB disks which were formatted using an older USB2 dock as most of my newer USB3 docks don't support 3TB disks. However, the downside of this is that it appears to create older versions of the GPT partition that can't be read by newer devices, such as the recently purchased newer USB3 dock that does have 3TB disk support.
Is there any way of converting from the old GPT type to the new type, without having to wipe the disk and copy all 3TB of the data back? I can't find much from google on the two different versions of GPT.
Old dock: Raidsonic IcyBox IB-112StUS2-Wh - http://www.raidsonic.de/en/products/details.php?we_objectID=6159
New dock: Startech 4-bay USB3/eSATA - http://www.startech.com/HDD/Docking...ive-Docking-Station-for-25-35-HDD~SATDOCK4U3E
Here's how two 3TB drives manifest themselves in the newer enclosure -
The 'working' drive was formatted using an Adaptec 7 series controller (but from within windows, not using the RAID utility).
Thanks
Sam
