I am geting into heavy rendering and I am thinking that I am gone get a render server as soon as dual cores come out. I want a 8 way number crunching monster I got 8k saved up so far.

Keep saving.. ... and keep waiting... since there's no such thing


None of the 4way (8way) boards out have agp or pcie x16 slots.....

So.. you'll be rendering with ati rage xl pci 8mb onboard

but that 9.6 ghz of 64 bit power will make up for it.. right?

Missed my point.. Render server only renders raw data, I am currently using a Dually to do my modeling and animation. I use Maya and the Software (Mental ray) renderer is better then the hardware renderer, slower but Ray tracing has less imprefections then hardware..

I am gone wait for a 4 way board then buy a bunch of dual cores. If there was an eight way that would totaly kick ass. 16 way SMP DROOOL
