I've had an interest today in looking at google's architecture. So far, I've read that they have connected over 100,000 pcs to create a super distributed computer. This distributed network they've built is used to run all of their web applications such as google.com, gmail, maps.google, and etc...

What I really want to know and have not been able to find on the net is what language google uses to create their products with. Also what if any dynamic page generation server such as IIS or Apache do they use for creating the pages.

Anyone in [H] have a clue?

No, but I'd be interested. I'm getting ready to buy one of their Google Appliances.

HoT damn.. which one? Are you getting their search box for small business which cost roughly 5000? or the enterprise level that cost several million?

My dad has one of those at work. They're apparently pretty cool.

Google's code is all in C that I know of, but they keep their cards pretty close to their chest on that. There was a thing on slashdot a while ago about how they came up with their caching/searching algorithm, but I've since lost the link.

they use alot of xml, jave script and other things for the forward facing systems...

slashdot has had a few write ups on the technology behind google maps and gmail.

google it..

Somewhere in between. I going to do a 15 day evaluation on a GB-8008.

I'm looking to buy a GB-1001 Disconnect (if its not connected to the internet they charge more because they can't remote service them) with a 500,000 document search. I will end up need three systems though (1 for Development, 1 for test and 1 for production).

A GB-1001 Disconnect costs around $37,000.

This better be for work...

if not.. you are wasting your money... think of all the b0x3n that could buy for the [H]orde..
