I currently have a single 512 stick of Corsair XMS PC3500 ram. I was looking around to buy a 512 twin pack 256x2 of Corsair XMS PC3500 to fill in my dual slots but it’s a bit expensive. So I am thinking of selling this stick and buying ram from a different company. I'm looking at Mushkin and OCZ, I would like your opinions on these company’s if you guys would not mind. Thanks

Um, couldn't you just buy another stick of 512 MB Corsair XMS PC3500? (You know, the same speed, type, and module as the one you have now).

You don't have to buy dual packs to get dual channel, it's just that they're tested in pairs so it's guaranteed to run in dual channel, though the requirements for dual channel are you must use two of the same types of modules (same speed, specs, etc).

For opinions: Mushkin rocks, but their best RAM Level II Hi-Perf Black, is basically gone for good (PC3500 512x2 dual packs still available at the Egg).

Friends don't let friends buy OCZ.

Welcome to the forum, hope that helps.

Yes OCZ is a dishonest company- it was all over the news sites a while back.

PS: I'd go with the dual 512 sticks like my man up there said to.

Just get another 512 mb stick. It would be more expensive to sell current ram and buy new one from mushkin.

Early September I upgraded my computer. I started with i stick of Corsair 512MB PC3200 DDR. In early October I bought another stick of teh same RAM. works great in dual channel. Just buy another stick of teh same Ram and u shouldn't have any problems.

I guess I left out some details. If I buy 2x256 Corsair XMS sticks that will cost a bundle! That’s why I would like to go with something a little less pricey so if I need to update, it won’t be a big chunk of change coming out my wallet. So Mushkin memory is good huh? I just looked on newegg.com and saw this. How do you guys feel about this memory? Here is the link.

That is good ram but timings pretty close to fastest but fastest are 2-2-2. The one right there is 2-3-3 You should always make sure you current ram timings too. Can you find exact link on newegg for your current ram?
