Good or Bad RAID Card?

Nothing wrong with it, but it's a software-based raid, so you wouldn't be able to (for example) use a DOS boot disk to see files on the array. Sil3114 chipset IIRC.

If I were you I would find the cheapest Hardware RAID card you could find. Highpoint makes some that are very good, I used a Rocket RAID 404 for quite a while but that is IDE.

*cough* not hardware raid *cough*

Like unhappy said, they are not hardware, but still good cards. Something like the 1820A or the 222x series will saturate a 100BT connection without problems.

Highpoint also has good linux support.

3ware is overkill for raid 0 or 1. And if you're using Linux, there's absolutely no reason not to use the built-in raid 0 or 1 drivers, they're every bit as fast as hardware raid, and you can move them across adapters.

Yep, a close look at the picture confirms it. Not a bad chipset IMO for JBOD, but I wouldn't RAID with it.

I believe the Rocket Raid 404 from Highpoint is Hardware because you configure the RAID setup in the card's BIOS, I have moved it from one computer to another without loosing any data.

3Ware, LSI Logic, or Areca are the best though.

It's hardware in that sense, but not in the sense of having an on-board processor doing the work.
