You running a laptop with integrated graphics chip? Surprised they would just remove it Windows 10 dimmer sucks just a guy with a Dress shirt.

Argyl/DisplayCAL, calibrate for a different gamma ramp based on your room lighting for white point? You could then just toggle between ICM profiles, one lighter, one darker, but it wouldn't cover every usage pattern. I don't think anything exists universally without being just a filter, even a calibrated display if not adjusted to proper levels will end up being super bright if 3DLut doesn't get applied to whatever game/3D mode it goes into compared to the native Windows system managed ICM profile. Only workaround is to shim all of your games that don't respect your calibration profile, and that gets tiresome. Maybe focus on getting your white balance and RGB balance as perfect as possible without calibration, from the OSD/service menu as a more permanent solution?

You could try uninstalling using Driver sweeper uninstaller and re-installing Radeon or whatever AMD program you were using the program could just be a graphical glitch. Or install a older driver set that included the brightness controls enabled.

Nah not a laptop, I recently moved this rig into a room that is darker so the screens are blinding bright. There is calm lighting atmosphere balanced around the room and these displays are just too bright. They are good displays, but anything lower than 100% uses PWM and I've found that to definitely be a nogo on the eyes for extended periods even at the fast cycling frequency. Will be getting a lot of new gear next year and switching back to Nvidia, etc, but been holding off on doing it right now since I have an extended upcoming trip.
Yeah, I actually just reverted to older drivers and it works again. Although an interesting thing I did just notice is that Flux has a dimmer that works pretty good. I always thought it was just a temperature adjuster, but using the Alt/PgUp, Alt/PgDwn it actually adjusts brightness too and better than the other 3rd party apps I've previously tried so far. I think I will actually use this because the AMD control disables Flux and I'd rather have both temp and dimming.

Windows 10 dimmer "night lite" is superior to flux because it works with any program or game called Night Lite. Flux makes my skin burn it's so good.........

What programs or games does Flux not work with? Works with everything for me. That was one issue I found with a lot of other 3rd party dimmers was it wouldn't work for everything. I was never a Flux person until maybe a year ago as before then I just found it to be ok. It's gotten a lot better and also lets you go a lot lower in temp than it used to. Also not running win 10. I'm one of those guys that prefers 7, at least for now. Maybe next build I'll do 10.
It's working on all my regular progs, windows, and tried a couple games, seems to be working good at the moment. Not gaming that much at the moment so can't say for all. Mainly when I'm playing games though I just disable that kind of thing and prefer regular game mode color and brightness settings for best picture quality.

I've been using Sony KD-65XD8505 65" 4K TV, which has an IPS panel with no PWM flickering, as main-one-and-only desktop PC monitor for more than a year. I use this TV (monitor) for general Internet browsing, reading text in a form of websites, ebooks, scientific articles, watching YouTube and for general PC activities. I don't do any PC gaming as I'm not into playing computer video games anymore for about a decade. Under such general usage scenarios I've found that even at lowest brightness and contrast levels the screen was simply too bright to be used as a monitor. That's expected because TVs are designed to be much brighter than monitors.
I was and am sitting 90 cm (3 feet) away from the screen. The fact that Sony KD-65XD8505 4K TV was too bright for me to be used as a monitor, led me to investigate different software options for controlling display brightness.
Flux was a good start, however SunsetScreen proved to be an even better software solution to control brightness in an efficient, comfortable and fast manner. Using SunsetScreen I've set desired Windows OS booting brightness and color temperature values and also set keyboard shortcuts to control brightness manually depending on my needs.
IMHO, SunsetScreen deserves as much praise as Flux does. I encourage everyone to try SunsetScreen out. Links are below. Cheers!

You are spot on, great find for sure. The dimming works better than anything I've tried yet and the temps combined with that looks great. I'm going to give this a try for a bit and see if I like it better overall. Thanks man
