This is my first overclock with an Intel CPU and I'm still a little fuzzy on what's what with the fsb / dividers / Quad pump, blah, blah, blah.

I'm certain that the majority on this forum know more about these things than I do, so I'm hoping that you can look over this CPU-Z link and advise if I'm disastrously off somewhere on the settings or if I can optimize even better in some areas.
The reason that I posted here, is because I'm worried about the "1500Mhz" FSB that is being listed. (Accidentally posted in a different forum)
As far as I know, this board is rated at 1066Mhz and I'm curious how my overclock is actually working.
Details in my sig.

Thank you !

*By the way, this setup clocks under 17s for 1M Pi......that's 13 seconds FASTER than my overclocked Opteron 146 with 2GB's of DDR550.

Nothing to worry about there, though if you are still on the stock cooler I'd not push it any farther.

Your CPU is a 2.13GHz stock or 266MHz FSB * 8 Multiplier

Intel FSB is Quad pumped though, so you get 1066MHz.

Since your multi is 8 your FSB will always read as half your CPU clock.

As a reference I'm currently (as in while I type this) running Orthos on my E6300 @ 3304 (472*7) 1.4Vcore. That makes an 1888 FSB :) On a P5B (just a P5B) with 2GB G Skill DDR2-800. The core temp is fluctuating between 48-50 C using a CoolerMaster Geminill. I'm debating trying to go faster, as at this point my *lowly* 7900GTX is what's holding me back in most games. Which is moot really because I have a 19" LCD (1280x1024) that lets me crank most everything up anyways.

Anyways...

I'd say with adequate cooling you could just start at 400 FSB and go from there. I have yet to see a decent P965/6X0i board that can't run a 7 or 8 multi at 400FSB.

If I had to make a recommendation, it would be to set your FSB:RAM ratio to 1:1 and start cranking up the FSB until you hit a wall (either thermal or voltage or both) Looking at your rig you have lots more room. If your ram is running at that speed now, then it'll most likely be your motherboard that's gonna stop the parade in the end. This is of course with a good CPU cooler.

Good luck man, and have fun.

You rock.

What a great reply.

Thanks so much for the extra detail and I appreciate you taking the time to cover all the bases.

Where the hell is a thumbs-up icon when you need one?!?!
