Going with the X800XT PE!!

You could wait a few more months to see the next generation cards that are to be released soon.

In the meantime, get an XL, a solid investment, that wont break the bank, is a hundred dollars cheaper then a 6800GT, and is pretty much the same performance (A little better actually, once you crank up the AA and AF)

Well seeing as how the Inq, and a few review sights (The inq comes to mind, I cant really remember the other sights) have stated that there is an R520, and it is coming out withing a few months, I am inclined to believe the rumor

yeah, like that'll mean anything.

after all, we all know that ATi isnt too trustworthy when it comes to making their flagship cards readly available to the general public. (at least not anytime soon.) ie - X800 XT PE...
 
Up here in canada, I see more XTs/XT-PEs (And closer to MSRP) then I do see GTs/Ultras.

like how many ... 4 total x800 cards to 1 total NV card near where you live?
 
Whats the point of the R520? I mean really...there are like no good upcoming games that look like they'll even strain a X800XT PE. I would love to buy a new card IF there was a decent game coming out, but meh....upgrading PC parts has become more of a "my 3dmark03 is higher than yoursss!!!1"....bleh. Cant wait till XB2 and PS3 come out.

I dont know about that.

after all, Half Life 2 is giving my X800 XT PE a very hard workout.

(but then again, it could be because I'm running the game at 1920 X 1200 on my 24" Dell LCD screen. :p )

I merely said many people think those cards may be coming out in May, and I did mis-speak a little. In terms of the Nvidia card I was refering to their next refresh, which some speculate will be a 24 pipeline version of their current chip.

Regardless, I didn't say I believed it or that I had any proof to offer. Personally I doubt even the R520 will be coming out in May myself, and if it does get "announced" in May I am pretty sure it will take almost 3 months to really get them in anybodys hands, just like with the x800 last year.

Regardless below is a link to at least one site that says it's POSSIBLE that Nvidias next gen card will be out around the same time as the R520. So if you believe the R520 is coming out in May then this site is saying it's possible the G70 will be out in May as well (though I admit they don't think it's likely).
