I'm trying to creat an image of my drive, 74 gig raptor. I made the bootdisk using bootdisk wizard and everything is good. I start to boot up with the 2 disk, when it ask me to insert disk 2 i do it, it says its loading and just hangs there.

Is it because ghost 8 doesn't work with sata ?
 
that's the issue IIRC,
there's a switch you can give it from the command line to get around that, but you may still have problems.
 
I've never had a problem with Ghost 8 using SATA drives, or arrays. Never understood why everyone said it wouldn't work. Where are you ghosting the drive too? I've usually ghosted to an PATA hard drive, or I used GhostCast Server and sent the image to my server. It should work regardless though, so look into that switch. I never had to, but I guess all systems could be different.
 
I have 2 SATAs, I'm trying to make an image from my raptor to my seagate 200 SATA.

The main problem is that after it ask for the second disk and states that it is loading, nothing happens. I dont even get into Ghost. If i could then i'd use Ghost cast server

I had that problem with one PC...and I ended up throwing all the necessary files on a thumb drive, and it worked fine. Symantec has a bunch of write-ups on their Knowledge Base for using Ghost with SATA.
 
so make the boot disk on a thumb drive? and make the usb first boot?

Sure, if that's how it works for your system....or a bootable CD....either way. I have a strong dislike and distrust for floppies.
 
i totally agree, i had to drive 15 mins to my friends house for a floppy drive. When i got home, i couldnt find a floppy cable, drive back over to get it, come back home and throw it in. then it doesn't work.

I feel retarted why didnt I make a cd from the get go :mad:

I haven't had time to work on it yet, however, I talked to my boss at work and he's got Ghost 9.0. Would it work with SATA drives?
 
Ghost 8.0 supposedly resolved SATA problems. There are also workarounds for some problems for 7.5.

Ghost 9.0 should also be free of those issues.
