Not sure what it is or whats causing it, can anyone help?

Also been getting errors like "Video status low on memory" or something like that...Can't remember exact error and forgot to get a picture.

I have a gig of ram comming in either today or tomarrow hopfully this can fix the problem...but...

Rig:
MSI KT6V Motherboard
AMD Athlon xp 3200+
512MB Ram (2 x 256)
ATI Radeon 9800 Sapphire Pro
Windows XP

Windows updates are up-to-date.
Using the ATI standard driver that is given on their website. (Ver. 6.14.10.6505)

If anyone has any suggestions as to what this is or what might help, would be really helpful! Thanks :)

Flash mainboard to latest bios, after that, load defaults.

Back on windows and install latest chipset drivers, then make sure VPU Recover is disabled on ATI display properties.

good luck

yes, what OldMX said - make sure you do a complete removal and fresh install of the vid drivers.

Reset everything to default. Sounds like you are OC'ing the card, and it doesn't like it.

Card is a 128mb card, would it help to get a 256mb one? Was thinkin of getting a x800

OC = over clock
hmm would a new card fix your issue - perhaps
Did you try what was offered and still no go?

No havent had time, posting between semi breaks, working on stuff, ill post once i do it though

I had a 9600Pro at one time where I got that VPU Recovery error a lot. At my wits end I tried cooling my case more, took the side off and placed a table fan blowing into the case, and that solved my problem. My card was also a Saphire.

My CPU temp is always 40-50 degrees, Icant get it lower, I put 3 more fans in there and nice new one on the procc, didnt help at all. :|
I might just have to spend my next pay check on a x800

ok, check your video card and see if the vpu's heatsink is touching - there have been some issues of late where the heatsink does not make contact or shifted during shipment. (make sure to check the card with the heatsink pointed down like it would be in the computer )
Yes, it could be a heat issue - run without the case sides on and see if there are less instances of the error - IF so get yourself a fan that will blow directly on the vid card
or cut a blow hole in your case perhaps or -
IF you want a cooler set up - perhaps a better case would be in order - one that breathes better.
EDIT: PM recieved and read - and answered - by the way the motherboard drivers can be downloaded from the link I gave you in the private message - just look in the top left menu.
Do test the card in a known good system with a different monitor and see if it will run. (if same errors then you know it is a bad vid card - if not - then you can remove the vid card as culprit - unless it is an overheating issue - if it is not the vid card - it could be the motherboard, memory, power supply - I don't think it could be hard drive related, but stranger things have happened.)
Let us know when you have tried everything - and let us know if it fixed the problem or not
