Ok guys, I am gonna make a supply run in sears sometime soon to get new tools. I currently have a 15k RPM cordless dremel that I wanna replace. I am wondering what kinda saw to get, ie reciprocating, jig etc. Does anyone know if a standard jigsaw with a metal cutting blade would cut through a side panel? I'm thinking of getting one or a reciprocating. Anyone have any advice on what to get?

EDIT: sorry wrong forum

IMO, I would stick with the dremel for case panels. The only thing I use my jigsaw and metal blades for are older cases that can take the beating of cutting w/ jigsaw, and to make bigass cuts that would use ~20 cutting disks or more with the dremel. otherwise, I stick to dremel for pretty much everything because of versatility.

The dremel should be fine. Dont know about 15k though, I usually cut at 30k rpm.

Why double post same subject whitedude?????

Anyways Jigsaw to cut panel... for me it's gonna be hard because Jigsaw is kind of big... Well if I am going to cut panel I'll use a drill and drill holes around it then pop it out if possible or drill holes first then cut it with a dremel cutoff wheel... and If you are going to buy a dremel buy one of those flex attachment I think it's gonna be useful I want one because I'm doing a WC box(where I can put those big a$$ heatercores pump and a seperate PSU) So far I drilled and dremeled 4 120 mm holes on the acrylic FF I'm working on.
