Getting Memory and FSB even

Ok, i have a Barton 2800+ sitting in a A7N8X Deluxe r2.0.... the Corsair 2700 ram i bought has turned out to be 3200C2 ram, and i want to get my CPU up to the 400Mhz FSB so i can drive the ram at full potential.

Do i have to wire-trick my Proc to get it done? The BIOS will let me drop from 12.5*166 to 10.0*200, and she's running stable at this, but i've read the core is multiplier-locked, so i'm not sure that's a true change. Anyway, as soon as i start to monkey with the Ram frequency or timings, i get locked or (more frequently) the "Failed due to CPU OC" voice post.

Cooling ain't a problem (huge fans and swiftech sinks, active Northbridge cooling as well), and my CPU_FSB jumper is set to 1-2.

Do i have to wire my chipset? Or is there something else i'm missing? As you can tell, i'm kinda new at this so anything will probably help.
 
The barton 2800's not multi locked, as far as i know. yours isnt becasue you were able to change the multiplier. Just run it at 3200 speeds (11x200). No other modding is required.
 
Cores are only multi-locked up, not down. You should be able to move the multi down without a problem and without any mods to the chip.
 
That explains the multiplier, thanks all. The OC for the CPU is stable w/ a 200 FSB, so that part is solved.

The thing that chaps my @$$ is that i can't get my Memory to perform at that FSB. It's Corsair 512 XMS 3200C2PT, that's for sure. the tech documentation says it's 2.5T-3-3-6 for athlon CPUs, and i have it in slots 1+ 3. Any time i up the Memory freq to 200% (to yield 400mhz) gives me a no-boot, or like i said, the "fail due to OC" post.

Any thoughts from here on out?
 
Never mind this thread, i'm a dumbass. I just realized my error;

If the mem frequency setting is 200% * FSB, that yields 800Mhz, not 400.

Mem stable at 400Mhz and 2.5T-3-3-6. Thanks all.
