Getting Data off a dead hard drive

Is there a way to get the info off a dead hard drive that has a fried logic board (supposedly, cause I don't believe the guy) other than swapping out with a new logic board?

The board is what controls and drives the drive..

So, aside from taking the platters and putting them into a new HDD...no?

I agree, without the circuit board from the drive, it's just a brick.

Unless you have assloads of cash to take it to a forensic's place, then they would probably get a new logic baord and charge you your right nut to do it.
 
well I'd try to buy a new logic board myself rather than do that. Is there is a definite way of knowing if the logic board is shot?
 
If it spins up but isn't recognized by a BIOS then its the logic board. If it doesn't even spin up then its the powerboard in the drive. They are fairly simple to change out if you have time and patience.
