Yea its a good card. Have been running one for about a year w/ no probs. 16000+ on 3dmark01SE, doom3 plays good and looks great (1024x768 high setting with a little config file tweaking and AF down to 4X) plus now its cheap as hell. when i bough it it was well over 300 bucks.

Personally I don't think an aftermarket cooler is mandatory. Look at my clocks on stock cooling. I play D3 no problems with those settings. From the info I gathered at rage 3d, a VGA silencer might give you another 10 points on core and ram. Unnoticable except in benchmarks.
 
And it expells the hot air out of your case. If you want a high core overclock, you need a better heatsink. The stock ATI is a dinky thin aluminum POS IMO. My clocks with the Silencer now are: 455/480.
 
My overclock (with VGA Silencer) sucks, 1mhz on the core lol. But I still play Doom 3 at 1152x864 Medium settings (8AF 0AA). I played at 1280x1024 High settings (16AF and 2AA) quite comfortably - FPS dips down to below 25fps sometimes but it looks great. It's a great card I'm sure you won't regret it.

Alright thanks everyone I added that VGA cooler to my "wish list" on newegg anyways this is my first ATi card so is there anything strange about them or there drivers? Will I have the thermal reading (if I get a R360 core) right off the bat or will it require a flash to get that?

What did your card hit before the vga cooler ? Those are very high clocks. Did you voltmod ? The newer r360 core card's memory will not go nearly that high. My card artifacts above 430/380.



Yes you need to flash to get the diode working.
 
actually guys, the standard cooler that comes with the MSI is awesome, covers the RAM and GPU, plus it keeps it cool. you do NOT need a VGA Silncer with the MSI card

Nope, no voltmod here, although I am considering it. The core is a r350, card is a Dell OEM bought off ebay for $300 a few months back. Before I got the Silencer my max oc was around 425mhz. I also had an Iceberq4 on there, the max I got with it was 435.
