Hi all,
I've recently started a topic to see what a good new hardware is for a high-end system ( http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1708044 ) got the advice to just ask the question again when i'm going to actually buy it (instead of plan half a year/year in advance
). Fair enough!
I've been thinking something over. The hardware will be costly,... and I might need to even buy two of them (for work co worker).
Now, I was thinking of the following. Instead of getting two high-end systems, just get one, with two imacs or alike, and then use one high end work station for computing, with one or two Xeon Phi cards/Tesla/Firepro, whenever the software is up for it. (And use for Folding or alike programs to use the computing power for something good)
Now the question is.
1. Is it possible to use a server for general adobe programs? (I know 3dMax/Maya etc would be allright with it as render station).
2. Network infastructure wise; how fast needs the connection be? I hear people do it with a gigabit connection or infiniband?
3. Is this just a really useless way of thinking and do I have it all wrong?
Thanks in advance!
