• Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.

Why not let the registered members view that forum? Even if we can't post, why not let us view it? I understand the whole reason behind it was to not let trolls post and start flame wars.

They allow sneak peak weekends to entice us to wanna look and hopefully purchase a subscription so we can post.

It used to be like that, but they killed it for some reason.

There are sneakpeek weekends though, you can get a glimpse of the insanity then.

Its 5 bucks for crying out loud.

Its fun to just talk about anything you want, some of the stuff is just plain funny. :D

comon guys.... $5 is nothing, you spend that at McDonalds every weekend! :D

They killed it because if you can view the forum, why spend $5-$15 just to post? Seems like the smart descision to me

I know this is true but, some people don't have access to paypal. I'm a General Mayhem member, but I also only had paypal for a few months.

Yeah, I'd have no problem paying for the lifetime General Mayhem subscription, but I've long since cancelled my Paypal account due to privacy concerns. If there were another way to pay (credit/debit card or check), I'd do it in a heartbeat. I'm not signing up with Paypal again though.

Maybe Kyle should consider allowing users to also pay by check, but if it's an inconvienance maybe charge a slightly higher fee if users pay by check to balance it out? I dunno, just throwing out some ideas.

I don't know, I waited FOREVER to get GenMay. I had to get a CC and get PayPal and finally ust got it about a month ago. If you don't want to spend the $5-$15 to get in, you don't deserve it in my opinion. It is by subscription only because it is not tech related. Also, the money spent to subscribe goes to the upkeep of the forums.

By NOT charging the money to view, we lose out on alot of money that can be invested in server upkeep and the forums then go bye-bye.

Work an hour overtime this week and have 30 years on General Mayhem... It can't be that hard.

You don't have to have a Paypal account to pay by CC, its just a one time transaction.

$15.00 for 30 years is more my speed. I am considering it currently.
I might do it after the next Preview Weekend.

Paypal is the only payment method accepted here.

LoL! Sounds like the forums have too few people to chat with. Even if it is cheap I doubt you'll find a lot of people who will pay for something that about 99.99% forums you find online does for free.

Not to mention that by charging for the use of these forums you are obviously limiting peoples opinions and discustions. I can't see there being many debates. I don't pay because it's the morality of the whole thing. The reason they say they charge for it is to reduce trash threads though I have to wonder what they rate as a trash thread?

At any rate the Hard Forums have also lost many posters as a result of their subscription. Can anyone recommend me a General Car Forum that has lots of posters?

My point was that you don't have to have a paypal account and you don't. Your given an option to pay with a paypal account or to pay like you would any other online retailer, paypal just processes the card info.

Italics- just the opposite. By keeping it in genmay you are *allowed* post off topic items. The rules are more relaxed because by paying the trolls are gone making the mod's jobs easier.

The bold is just plain funny. Believe me, there are more hardcore debates in genmay than anywhere else on the site. And they actually are a: researched, and b: debates rather than flamefests.

Trash threads? Well, almost nothing gets locked in genmay, hence the 300+ reply post to a picture of a very, um, wide(!) lady with way too tight clothing on. Its an off topic posting area, so you get everything from "hey look at my infected and disgusting ingrown toenail!" to "Im getting married. What the fuck did I just get myself into?!"

Bottom line is it's your decision, no one forces you to spend anything, not even a whopping $5. Enjoy your Big Mac and fries, and don't bitch about not being able to post or view in a Subscriber only forum ;)
