geforce 6800 problem/question

ok i just got my geforce 6800gt YAY but yah i cant change my refresh rate higher than 60hertz my monitor should be able to do 75htz
monitor is a viewsonic vp171b-2 with my old card (radeon 9700 pro) i could change the refresh rate to 75hertz without a problem, is there something wrong with my card?
 
I would suspect that it didnt autodetect your monitor correctly. You can download an .inf file for you monitor so that it is installed correctly. I am not sure if this setting pertains to refresh rates as well, but you can try to uncheck the "Hide display modes this monitor cannot support" option.
 
even when i unclick the hide refresh rates that this monitor cannot display it still only shows 60 hertz, any thoughts?

It's an LCD. Most LCD's don't refresh above 60hz. Which doesn't make the difference that it would on a CRT. I've got a 20.3" Viewsonic VP201S and it doesn't go above 60Hz with or without its specific driver being loaded.
 
Do you have it hooked up through the dvi cable or the d-sub (vga) cable? If it is through the dvi cable then it forces it to 60 hz. Refresh rate doesnt matter on a lcd anyway.
 
dvi ofcorse, and with my old gfx card i could display up to 75hertz max refresh rate for my monitor is 75 hertz though it wtill wont allow me to change it from 60
 
you realize that a lcd doesnt really "refresh" right? was your old card dvi also, if so it was the card that wasnt detecting the monitor properly. You wont notice a difference between the refresh rates on a lcd since it doesnt refresh.
