Geforce 6800 Overclocking and Temps

I have been using a BFG GF6800 OC, unlocked to 16/6, with a modest OC of 375/750. My current idle temps are between 47 C and 53 C; are these temps normal?

Another thing - I'd like to OC this card a little more - how high is too high, temperature wise? And what are normal OC's people have been getting from their 6800's?

thoes temps are good...

for the more overclocking..youll probly need to up the voltage..and right when you do that temps go UP!...and so i would recomend better cooling if you really want to overclock more...do the BFG OC cards have aftermarket cooling?..or isit the reference ons..or is it the nice 2 fan design one?....

if you want to up the voltage ill find a thread for you that could help you...

What's the simplest way to up the voltage? I've read about some BIOS modding to raise the voltages, but I hear they're a little complex... is there anything simpler, more idiot-proof? (Not saying I'm an idiot, but I don't want to blow up my card...:) )

what you do is..get a BIOS editor...( like OmniExtremeEditFX) and after you use the Flash tool to back up your BIOS..take the back up and edit it with the BIOS editor and just up the voltage and core/mem MHZ after you are done..name the file..like "overclocked"
from the editor..its a nice and simple editor... and then in the flash tool back it up again so you have a fresh back up..then just put the CMD in for the other rom file and then start flashing for your new BIOS its so easy really..but like i sayed the cooling is a big issue..you might not think so..but my stock cooling whent up 20c going up 0.1v on the core.. be carful and PM me with any other questions... right now..i need to hit the sack...5am here :eek:
 
the reason why i say to edit the backup you made is because ...getting a ultra BIOS offline is easy..but sometimes has isues..and the fact that Ultras have bad memory timings..and editing your BIOS will not effect the timings..and youll just OC the things you need..you really dont know what your getting when you download a BIOS....
 
got my PNY running stable at 380/790 with 16x6 and it hits 61-62 under load. The core's pretty much at it's limit but I think I have more room to work on the memory.
 
is it all stock?..cause thats a insane overclock! ARE YOU SURE 380/790???
 
I have an nVidia GeForce 6800 (non GT/Ultra) PCI-E 256MB. Although I can't unlock its pipelines I've OC'd it to 441/830 from its original settings at 350/600

im thinking that like how ATI has thoes clocks how you double it and get the clock...and i was thinking he was getting 1580 on his ram...

thats right , right..how ATIs can go to 600MHZ ram..if you double that seeing how its DDR your at 1.2ghz clock..or am i just having a rain fart again....
 
I don't know, I'm currently an nVidia person because there latest cards rock!! In the past I was always an ATI person, but as soon as they start showing the market some "higher than nVidia capable stuff"

i saw the same performance..and saw that nvidia is back in the game and better then ever..and the prices to performance is just straight AWESOME!
 
So- if I want to flash the BIOS to add voltage, I should think about getting an aftermarket vid card cooler? Any suggestions for those? I've heard good things about NV Silencer 5, how much cooler will that run my card?
 
I have an NVSilencer5 on my card, and it has made my load temps come down to my idle temps. I was getting 75-80 on load, now I only have 55-60. My idle temps are about 50-55, but theres no worries in those temps.

I've got an Aolus Aopen Nvidia 6800Le
I don't have an temp output in my control panel.
Still got no fix for this.

But anyway

here are my results for an 6800LE flashed to a standard 6800

core runs at 380MHZ and memory at 870MHZ

It's watercooled, made it myself.

it was a bitch to assemble but great results and cheap.
