Gaming PC BIOS loop

Hi there,

My nephew has a 2015 'Vanquish' gaming PC with the following details:

AMD A8 7650K Radeon R7 10
Windows 8
8 GB memory

It has only been used a couple of times & then I think he has somehow restored it to factory settings.
The boot sequence starts but never goes past the Gigabyte logo & then loops continuously.
The last BIOS update was 2015 - is this an issue?

Many thanks in advance,

John

What specific (model) Gigabyte motherboard does your nephew have?

Did he try to update the motherboard's BIOS to its latest (stable) version?

Did he reset the CMOS settings (or replace the battery, which is a CR2032 watch battery)?

Hi Tiraides,

Motherboard is Gigabyte Ultra Durable GA-F2A68HM-HD2

He says he only 'looked' at the BIOS screen & did not change any settings.

I have tried re-inserting the battery.

Many thanks

You may need to replace the battery outright. That's the best way to reset the CMOS settings.

Again, the battery you need for the motherboard is the CR2032 watch battery. You can find that in most Walmart, Target, and other similar stores.

If that fails, your last resort is to try a "barebones" bench test.

Thanks for your help

I have found a new battery & it's not that.
What about a BIOS update?

I checked the Gigabyte page and there were only two versions of the BIOS issued to the board. The later version, F2c, is a beta version that may or may not work.

I would like to tell you to reinstall the BIOS (using the later version), I don't know whether you can upgrade it without using Windows. If the computer is still performing the continuous loop, then we may not be able to fix it.

EDIT: I just found a YouTube video focusing on recovering the BIOS. Have you already seen the video?
