My roommate and I are both in need of new keyboards. He like ergonomic keyboards, I prefer standard (though don't really mind the ergonomic type). We're both hardcore gamers, playing everything from FPS, RTS, MMORPG (currenltly WoW), TBS, and (in my case) MUD games. Since we're in the market for new keyboards, I thought we might explore the idea of keyboards that are tailored towards gamers. Do they exist (beyond that weird ZBoard thing)? To be honest I'm not even sure what features would make a good gaming keyboard. Perhaps buttons that could be bound to things in game?

I'm hoping someone here can suggest a good keyboard, good for gaming and general use. If a gaming keyboard isn't really something that exists, what're some of the best overall keyboards on the market. Wireless mice interest me, though I'll probably won't get one because of gaming, but wireless keyboards just seem silly to me (the thing really doesn't move). I'd be interested in both ergonomic (I don't mind them and after time I'm sure I'd learn to love them) and standard keyboards. What do you guys have for me?

Thanks in advance!

Saiteks "Gaming Keyboard" has had lots of good things said about it (although from what I can tell it's mainly just a well built regular keyboard with a backlight).

The sequel, the Saitek "Eclipse" which is just hitting the stores is apparently even better.

Theres always those nostromo speed pad things, i have one but it never gets used. Im very happy with my logitech MXdestktop, pretty sweet, been running for about a year on the same set of batteries, and nice positive action. DOnt get one of the dinovos, as cool as they look, laptop keys = teh suckage.

Best bet is prob a nice standard keyboard. Go down to yuor loacl keyboard stockist and type on a few, only way youll find out what you like.

Ideazon Z-Board. Have had mine for 8 months and love it.. Alot of other people don't like it though..

from what Ive read the Saiteks is about the best gaming keyboard. I just dont like the price. Ill stick with my $5.00 lite-on keyboard :)
