Will the AMD FX-55 be able to run the ATI r520 very well or will it be a bottleneck? Many people think the fx-55 has its hands full with SLI. Just wondering your opinions.
 
Depends on the game. By the time the R520 comes out the FX-55 will probably be upped by the FX-57 as far as gaming wise, dual cores will hopefully be out by then, but those doesnt really matter for gamers.
 
The FX-55 will not bottleneck the R520 as far as I know. You would have to have something like a A64 3200+ or lower before you would bottleneck a card like that I would think.

Last years high end cards are still bottlenecked by the best CPUs. So yes it will. Doesnt mean it wont play awesome.
 
well, seeing as how a high end video card will be bottlenecked by any current CPU, its pretty safe to sya it will

most likely, but nobody will know for sure until cards with that chip come out!

If you have ANY A64 any the processor is the bottleneck you would be getting so many frames it doesnt matter whats bottlenecking you. If I could be bottlenecked in every game by my processor I would still be getting like 150+FPS (for 90% of games).
 
minus cs source, that game will drop a powerful cpu llike mine down to the 30fps range in really intense 30 person games. So dont act like a64 are invincible, cause they are not, and they definately wont be in a year or two.
 
I agree. Everybody seems to think that anything A64 is somehow inherently superior for gaming. The truth of the matter is that lower A64's like the 2800,3000 s754 aren't that far ahead of a high end AXP performance-wise; and the newest AXP CPU's are two years old now.

The last lower A64 I worked with had about a 40% overclock with minimal effort, leaving it at about the stock rate of the high-end ones...does this enter in to your comparison at all?

yes but compared to intel procs at the same ones, Athlons beat by a longshot
 
My FX-53 runs fine with a 6800 ultra ,Please say it aint so. I cannot see where the processor slows the gpu at all. The only time ive seen any problem with my 6800 ultra was in Riddick. At the highest settings once in a while it would chug through an intense firefight. but wow what beautiful graphics. I am not familiar with this r520??? is it the 512mb ati card?? I am somewhat interested to know how the cpu will interact with this new physics processor Ive read about, i suppose that will give the cpu extra load. :rolleyes:

the 2800+ is anywhere from 10-30% faster in games.. using a 9800pro. and that's before overclocking.
