Is that the blink of death?

Turned it off one night, the next morning green light. Turn on the PC and orange blinky.

Anyone know what this might indicate? Perhaps the repair would be cheap?
I didn't want to call a repair shop until consulting here first.. I wouldn't want to pay someone $150 to fix it only to find out it was a $20 part and could be fixed for $30.

I also posted in the FW-900 thread, but I thought it might be wise for a separate thread because that thread is just.. very busy.

Thanks for any advice

If I can't get it fixed reasonably I was thinking... Asus VH242H or Dell ST2410 ?

Nobody? I guess if we knew how to fix it and it was a cheap fix, I would've gotten an answer.

Oh well.

I just realized the 2209WA is 16:10.. I keep forgetting that!

Screw the Asus and ST2410.. I've gottta have that Dell

This is unfortunately the end of the line for your FW900. I've been through 3 of them my self. They usually seem to start doing this around the 2 to 3 year ownership (after refurbishing) period. In the past I have tried working with Sony to get them repaired and they will do it for $200 plus the shipping cost which can run you about another $100 it self. What I have done in the past is just look for another retailer selling them refurbed as it is usually cheaper then sending it back to Sony.

In case you were wondering what the problem is it self. The issue lies in its in ability to discharge the Static built up by the CRT. you'll notice if you leave it off for about a week and manually discharge the screen with out it plugged in you may get one or two more uses out of it but it will never be fully fixed. I've looked into replacing the internals but usually it comes back to an unreasonable price difference.

I hate to be the barer of bad news but its time to look for a new monitor.

Thank you very much, Darkside. That's exactly the answer I was looking for. I had looked on eBay at refurbs, they're going for $800+ ? I bought this one from eBay @ $250 3 years ago. I guess with Eyefinity and everything else these days, 3 Flat panels would be nice to work towards. I don't like to just "throw things out" if I don't know what's wrong with them. Some people can afford to do that, I can't. I'd rather fix it if the cost makes it worth it. I appreciate the answer very much! Thanks again!
