from 15 to 19 help!

i upgraded to a 19" moniter from a 15" and now my display is all blocky, im at 1024 by 768

the moniter is a NEC multisync LCD 1810. can some1 help me fix it.
 
ok if i crank up the res to 1280 by 1024 its good, but my GPU can't handle that setting in games, any alternatives?
 
no i literally CAN NOT choose 1280 by 1024 for a res. the max i can choose is 1024 by 768

Display properties --> settings, right click on advanced --> click on the monitor tab.

Make sure your monitor is there, if not go online and check the manufacturers site to see what resolution you can run, and uncheck the "hide modes this monitor cannot display". Either you have some default monitor installed under device manager, or your videocard is from the 1990s.
