I recently installed a new system: C2D E4300, Gigabyte S3, Radeon 1950Pro

I was also going to put in a new 500W PSU but it was backordered and will take a while to ship.

In the meantime, all my other components arrived today, and I installed them this afternoon.

All I had to run them with was a 420W PSU that I had been using in my previous system.

After a few unsuccessful attemps at powering the machine, my friend pointed out to me that I forgot the 12V power connector up at the top of the motherboard. After plugging it in, and trying the system, an awful smell came up and I powered off the system immediately. The smell was coming from the power supply but nothing else smelled fishy. I took the PSU out of the tower and now I'm just waiting for my order to arrive.

So question:

What is the likelyhood that any other components were injured in this process? I'm bringing it in to a tech shop thursday to get it tested.
