Freeware / Shareware 3D application for building desks and whatnot

I remember a year or 2 ago seeing some guys worklog of a desk he was building in his basement and he had some really slick looking 3D renders of the desk he was creating. I remember that the software was popular and pretty close to free (if not). For the life of me, I can't find either the post or the software.

I am trying to design a gazebo for my hot tub, and wanted to use this program.

Any recommendations here would be appreciated.

Sounds like Cavedog's famous desk iirc. Might be someone different but, that's the one desk that stands out in my memory from long ago. Fantastic desk too, corner mounted, 3 levels, it was simply awesome stuff.

Sketchup is relatively easy to use, hell even Blender could fill this role pretty easily.
