free data recovery software? help~

long story short, for some reasons, i lost some important data,
i tried some data recovery software, but once you save these files,
those software asks for a key.
These keys to be purchased are too expensive for me,

anyone recommend anyone cheap data recovery software for me. free is best.

Try Recuva or ntfsundelete. Both are free, do not require an install and I've had luck with them in the past.

What exactly is your situation? What OS are you running? Did you just accidentally delete something, or did you format something? The exact procedure can depend on what exactly happened. If you just accidentally deleted something, then the aforementioned programs are great. You might also try photorec, and if you need to get a little bit more complicated Testdisk is great.

Just make sure that you save whatever files you recover to another location (a different hard disk, flash drive, etc . . .). Otherwise you risk overwriting them in the recovery process. Also, if it was an accidental format, things get a little bit more complicated, and it is always a good idea to make a complete clone of the original data and work off of that so you have something to fall back on.
